Hendrick Motorsports Complex
Charlotte is home to one the greatest owners in NASCAR's history. Joesph Riddick "Rick" Hendrick III established Hendrick Motorsports, originally named All-Star Racing, in 1984. Hendrick Motorsports began with 5,000 square feet of workspace and one NASCAR Winston Cup Series team.
Throughout the years, the facility expanded to become Hendrick Motorsports Complex. The complex encompasses 140 acres in a 430,000 square foot building, and employs over five hundred employees. The original shop remains on-site.
The complex features engine and chassis-building areas large enough to support four full-time Chevrolet teams in the Sprint Cup Series of NASCAR. This impressive facility is located northeast of Charlotte, one mile from the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Hendrick Motorsports remains in the record books for earning thirteen owner's championships and fourteen championships overall. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson are among some of the drivers. While in the Mountain Region of North Carolina, stop by the complex for a free tour.
