1. Burlington Athletic Stadium
Seating 3,500 fans, the Burlington Athletic Stadium is home field to minor league baseball team the Burlington Royals. As a part of the rookie Appalachian League and an affiliate of MLB's Kansas City Royals, the Burlington Royals play to packed crowds on most nights. If you're looking for a fun family activity when visiting Burlington, or if you just love baseball, visit the Burlington Athletic Stadium, a short drive from Greensboro.
2. Bank of America Stadium
When your next visit to the Piedmont region of NC has you in Charlotte, be sure to spend a bit of time at the Bank of America Stadium. A top attraction in downtown Charlotte, the Bank of America stadium is the home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers. During the NFL season, try and catch an exciting Panthers game – even if it's an off-season visit, the Bank of America Stadium offers tours nearly all year round. Visit from nearby Huntersville and check out the Dr. Pepper ACC Football Championship Game, or the Belk Bowl in December – both are hosted at the Bank of America Stadium.
3. Cameron indoor Stadium
A legendary venue in the eyes of many college sports fans, Cameron Indoor Stadium is the home of the Duke Blue Devils basketball teams. Found in Durham, a short drive from Creedmoor and Cary, Cameron Indoor Stadium hosts a number of different Duke sporting events throughout the year – check out gymnastics, fencing, volleyball, wrestling, and even handball. Cameron Indoor Stadium opened in 1940 under the name Duke Indoor Stadium.
4. Legion Stadium

As you travel along the NC coast, head for Wilmington and check out the Legion Stadium. Seating 6,000, the Legion Stadium is a multi-use, open air venue, and part of the larger Legion Sports Complex. No matter what time of year you visit Wilmington, a short drive from Swansboro, you'll find exciting events like concerts, and even soccer matches – it's the home of the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Pro.
5. Time Warner Cable Arena
The Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte is, primarily, home to the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA. Throughout the year, however, TWC Arena is a multi-use venue, hosting live events like concerts, and Disney on Ice productions. Drive in from Gastonia and check out the Hornets slam and jam up and down the court.
6. PNC Arena
Any visit to Raleigh should yield a trip PNC Arena. One of the most versatile venues in the state, PNC Arena is home to the Carolina Hurricanes of the NFL, is the home basketball court for the North Carolina State Wolfpack men's and women's teams, and it hosts a number of live performances throughout the year. Your fall visit Raleigh, or nearby Garner, should mean an exciting Hurricanes game, or Wolf Pack basketball game. Past live performers include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Black Keys, and plenty of Disney on Ice productions.
7. WakeMed Soccer Park
Another top venue in Raleigh is the WakeMed Soccer Park. Home of the NASL's RailHawks, WakeMed Soccer Park is west of downtown Raleigh, not far from Cary and Smithfield. Not only does the WakeMed Soccer Park host home games for the RailHawks, it's also the home venue for the NS State Wolfpack men's and women's soccer teams. In the past, it's hosted the US Men's National Team as they've trained before soccer matches, and hosts Cross Country matches, and events for local high schools.
