Downtown Greensboro

Best Things to Do in Greensboro

NC’s third largest city, Greensboro is a bustling metro nestled in the state’s dazzling Piedmont region, ripe with things to do and places to discover.

If you’re visiting the "Gate City" sometime soon, take note; here are a handful of the best things to do in Greensboro:

See the sites.

On the north side of town, the Guildford Courthouse National Military Park commemorates one of the city’s most iconic moments: the Battle of Guilford Court House. The 220-acre park comes chock-full of towering statues, intriguing monuments, scenic walking trails, and more.

Just south of the military park, the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden offers even more scenic sight seeing and history. Stroll along the paved path and snap a few photos of the commemorative plagues and statues.

Park Walking Trails

Catch a game.

If you’re looking for a bit more competitive energy and excitement this summer, check out the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park, nestled neatly near downtown. As the Single-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, the Grasshoppers frequently field future big league sluggers and potential All-Stars.

Learn something new.

Greensboro features no shortage of awesome museums and discovery centers. Take for instance the Greensboro Children’s Museum, excellent for those with curious littler learners in tow, and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, which is a must-see for history buffs.

Similarly, the Greensboro Science Center will surely help expand your mind and discover the hidden gems of the world around you. Oh, and the hands-on exhibits, outdoor play area, and live animals are nothing short of amazing.

Get outdoors.

The beauty of the Piedmont’s forests and tall trees can’t be overstated, and urban parks like the Bog Garden at Benjamin Park and Bur-Mil Park offer ultra convenient places to hike, bike, picnic, or fish without traveling too far from the city.

Take in some culture.

Fans of fine art won’t want to miss the top-notch art galleries and similar attractions spread across downtown Greensboro, like the Ambleside Gallery, 205 Collaborative, Guildford Native America Art, and the Irene Cullies Art Gallery. The latter is featured on the campus of Greensboro College.

Over in Lindley Park, the Greensboro Arboretum features an unmatched collection of vibrant gardens and displays, offering another way to appreciate the artistic beauty in Greensboro.

Grab a drink.

If you’re ready to let loose, check out some of the community-favorite bars and watering holes in Greensboro. For starters, Elm Street is home to a variety of pubs, bars, grills, and lounges, like Great Balls of Fire, Limelight, Churchhill’s on Elm, Natty Greene’s Pub and Brewing, and more.
