Enjoy the campus at NC State
Your trip into the Piedmont region of North Carolina will no doubt yield impressive visits to the North Carolina State Capitol, and exciting tours of the North Carolina Museum of Art – but you're also going to be in Wolfpack territory, so plan accordingly.
Raleigh, along with being the state capital, is home North Carolina State University Wolfpack. Plan on touring the campus and all of the nearby attractions on your visit.
A public school, NC State, as it is most commonly referred, was established in 1887, and today is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university.
With a sprawling, urban campus of more than 2,000 acres, NC State's grounds are a shining example of the rich culture ever-present in Raleigh and the state of NC. Nearby cities include Cary and Creedmoor.
Embark on a pleasant campus tour and check out all of the sites – don't miss the Memorial Tower, a World War I tribute built in 1937. Be sure to also explore the Gregg Museum of Art & Design, showcasing art work from students artists from around the world.
After a tour of the campus, plan some time for the North Carolina Museum of History, and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences – two top attractions in Raleigh, ideal for a family on vacation, to solo business traveler looking for an afternoon activity.
Drive in from nearby Smithfield or Garner during the fall and check out all of the college football excitement at Carter-Finley Stadium. As the home of NC State Wolfpack football, Carter-Finley Stadium seemingly comes alive on Saturdays during the football season.
During the fall and all the way through to the spring, college basketball fans head to the PNC Arena, home court of the men's and women's Wolfpack basketball teams.
Opened in 1999, the PNC Arena seats nearly 20,000 fans for basketball games – buy a ticket and arrive early to soak in all of the excitement.
